Over the weekend, we captured more footage of the Iroc for our upcoming project. Exciting news – we’ve secured sponsorship from Nuke Performance in Sweden! Their products, including fuel filters, fuel filler cap, oil catch can, and Air Jacks, will be featured in the build. The Air Jacks are a standout – allowing the car to be lifted anywhere with compressed air, offering three methods of achieving this.
Thinking ahead, I’m contemplating an onboard air compressor with a tank for added weight in the rear trunk. As we delve into the interior, we’re dreaming and planning, with thoughts on a utilitarian trunk space featuring components like a stereo and air compressors. The rear trunk, once home to the spare tire, will see changes. A mounting bracket for billet fuel filters, a shop air emergency attachment, and neatly placed Nuke Performance jack prop rods are part of the vision. Manual toggle air switches, an air tank mount, and compressor mount will complete the setup.
Shifting focus to the interior, I’m replacing the light grey seats and carpet with charcoal-colored originals. The stock door panels might see a change for a better fit. The charcoal interior will complement the black dash and 5th-gen console. Once the Detroit Speed suspension arrives, welding and cutting will be required. The inconspicuous placement of Nuke Performance Air Jacks behind factory interior panels is part of the plan.
After the interior welding is complete, we’ll install the console, shifter, stereo head unit, and quarter panel speakers. Considerations for updated gauges with an OEM feel are in progress. Tinting the side glass and windshield to Texas’s legal limit is on the agenda for a cooler interior. Stay tuned for more updates, as this build may hit the road on the Hot Rod Power Tour or similar events!
