1959–1960 Buick Suspension Packages
Complete Air Ride Performance System
Transform the stance, ride quality, handling, and drivability of your 1959–1960 Buick with a complete suspension system engineered to work together from the start.
Rather than combining unrelated aftermarket components, we've designed this package as a cohesive system using real-world fabrication experience, 3D scanning, CAD design, and actual vehicle testing. The result balances ride comfort, strength, adjustability, proper suspension geometry, and long-term serviceability—without unnecessary modification to the vehicle.
What This Package Delivers
- Improved handling and steering response
- Correct suspension geometry for modern wheel fitment
- Smooth, predictable air ride performance
- Strong, serviceable components
- Clean integration with minimal vehicle modification
- Components designed to function together as a complete system
This is an engineered suspension system—not simply a collection of parts.
Front Suspension System
Optimized for 20" wheels
Recommended: 20x9 / 4.25" backspacing / 255/40R20 tire
The front suspension is designed to improve geometry, strength, steering precision, and wheel fitment while seamlessly integrating the air ride system.
Front Suspension Includes
- Modified upper and lower control arms with heavy-duty ball joint cups, fixture-built and TIG welded (core required)
- Wilwood Pro spindles
- 5x4.75" bolt pattern standard (5x5" available if specified)
- Moog ball joints
- Hammer Fab upper ball joint plates and lower cups
- SS7 air springs with mounting hardware and swivel fittings
- TIG-welded upper and lower air bag plates with cups and risers
- KYB shocks — front and rear included
- 1-1/4" solid splined sway bar with arms and links
- Bolt-on sway bar reinforcement brackets — laser cut and CNC bent
- Hole saw and installation hardware for sway bar reinforcement
- Weld-on upper shock brackets
- Extended bump stops with weld-in T-nuts to help prevent shock overextension
Steering Upgrade
- CNC-machined tie rod sleeves specifically designed for 1959–1960 Buicks
- Integrated dropped steering adapters
- 3/4" heim joints for improved articulation and reduced bind
- No steering component core required
Bolt Pattern & Wheel Requirements
- 5x4.75" front and rear is standard unless otherwise specified after checkout. The factory Buick pattern is 5x5" and can be arranged.
- Hub bore: 3.125" diameter front and rear. Front register protrusion is 0.75"; rear axle register protrusion is 0.25". Wheel center bore must clear this register for proper fit.
- Track width: 60.5" front and rear
- The current big-brake option is Baer brakes only, which require a minimum 18" wheel. Factory 15" wheels will not clear the Baer package.
- Contact info@hammerfab.com for help configuring wheels and brakes for your package.
Rear Suspension System
Optimized for 22" wheels
Recommended: 22x10 / 5.75" backspacing / 275/40R22 tire
The rear suspension system is engineered for strength, articulation, proper driveline geometry, and a smooth, quiet street ride.
Rear Suspension Includes
- Tube-laser-cut crossmember incorporating:
- Body mounts
- 4-link tabs
- Exhaust clearance
- Carrier bearing mount
- Adjustable triangulated 4-link with rubber bushings
- Pre-set pinion angle
- Minimal rear floor modification with required hump included
- Fixture-built, TIG-welded axle brackets
- SS8 air springs with mounting hardware
- Upper air bag mounts — bolt-in or weld-in
- Rear crossmember reinforcement plate that also serves as a cutting template
- Bolt-on upper shock mounts
- TIG-welded Ford 9" housing
- Dual-pattern axles — 5x4.75" and 5x5"
- Weld-on upper 4-link brackets
- Rear crossmember pumpkin bump for additional differential clearance
The system provides excellent articulation and stability while remaining quiet and street-friendly.
Engineering & Development
This system wasn't designed from measurements and assumptions alone. It was developed using modern engineering tools and tested on an actual 1959 Buick LeSabre Convertible.
- Designed using 3D scanning and CAD
- Engineered for strength and alignment accuracy
- Fixture-built components for repeatable installation
- Pre-determined suspension and driveline geometry to eliminate guesswork
- Clean, structurally sound air ride integration
- Quality USA-sourced components where specified
- Real-world fitment and testing
- Minimal and intentional vehicle modifications
Fitment & Important Notes
- Front wheel optimization: 20"
- Rear wheel optimization: 22"
- Standard bolt pattern: 5x4.75" front and rear, unless otherwise specified after checkout
- Track width: 60.5" front and rear
- Hub bore: 3.125" diameter front and rear (front protrusion 0.75", rear protrusion 0.25")
- Uses the factory Saginaw steering box, drag link, and tie rods
- LS swaps require selection of the correct kit, including an oil pan designed to provide drag-link clearance
- Modified control arms require a core
- Core refund is issued upon return of acceptable control arms
- Multiple acceptable control-arm core sets may be returned
- Minimal rear floor modification is required beneath the rear seat
- Multiple third-member gear ratios are available
- Front inner fenders may require modification to achieve maximum suspension drop
- No firewall or transmission tunnel cutting is required
- Factory engine mounts must be removed and replaced when applicable; templates are included
- Installation support includes 3D-printed guides, instructions, and QR-linked video support
- The air management system is not included with Buick suspension kits. Compressor, tank, valves, and control components are supplied separately.
- The transmission crossmember is sold separately from the engine mount kit. Both are add-on options.
- A minimum 18" wheel is required with the Baer brake packages on all Street Connection kits.
- Some components are model- or configuration-specific. Verify your application and selections before ordering.
Drivetrain Packages
When ordering drivetrain components, proper matching of the camshaft, torque converter, rear gearing, and tire diameter is critical to overall performance.
Contact info@hammerfab.com if you need assistance selecting the correct combination.
Shipping, Freight & Delivery
Because these packages can contain large, heavy, and oversized components, shipping requirements vary depending on the options selected.
- Freight / LTL shipping is required for this product and is not included in the product or checkout total. Hammer Fab will calculate and contact the customer with the freight charge separately after the order is placed based on the final configuration and shipping destination.
- Certain components may ship separately or directly from the manufacturer.
- Drop-shipped items may include components such as the radiator, driveshaft, engine, transmission, and other manufacturer-supplied products.
- Multiple shipments may therefore be required to complete your order.
- International orders require a manual invoice. Please contact us before ordering so we can assemble the appropriate package and shipping arrangements.
- Please allow approximately 2–6 weeks for complete delivery, depending on the components selected and current availability.
- We keep many components on hand, while others are manufactured or prepared to order.
- Don Hardy engines may require additional lead time.
If you have questions regarding shipping or need assistance with an international order, contact info@hammerfab.com.
